Sarah Sherman Samuel x Semihandmade

This one is BIG.

We first met designer Sarah Sherman Samuel way back in 2013. Both of us were relatively new to the Industry, Sarah and her husband were remodeling their Venice CA bungalow, and mixing Ikea kitchen cabinets with Semihandmade doors seemed like the best way to get the most bang for their bucks. From our end, this was before they'd invented the word Influencer - we didn't even have Pinterest or Instagram accounts at the time - so the thought around here was "Why not?"

We gave them the slimmest of discounts (we were new at this, remember?), signed the contract and the rest is history. Sarah’s kitchen - a mix of cool colors and earthy metals – is everywhere today. Seriously. It's iconic. All Semihandmade did was make the doors. Sarah painted them, installed the cabinets, styled the room... she even shot the photos! To this day, at least once a week, somebody somewhere in the World Wide Interwebs mentions Sarah's influence or tags us in a photo.

And who can blame them? Does anybody not remember this Remodelista piece from 2014?

A lot has changed for both companies since then. Hopefully, we're both a lot better at what we do. Scratch that - of course we are. The Sarah Sherman Samuel x Semihandmade collaboration is proof. We love how Sarah's eight signature colors effortlessly bridge the gap between a timeless classic like beadboard and Ikea's thoroughly modern kitchen, bath and media systems. Which is a longer way of saying the doors just look good. Not too traditional and not too modern. And if the reaction we got last month debuting the doors at Las Vegas Market was any indication, a lot of you guys agree.

The bottom line is, we couldn't have picked a better person to partner with for our first "named" line of Semihandmade Ikea doors, and we can't wait to share the collection with you (Seriously, have you met Sarah? She's just as nice and funny and down-to-Earth in person as you'd think) . Click here for more information and details.
