What is the difference between Sektion and Akurum?
Sektion kitchens are all Ikea kitchens bought after February 2015. Anything bought before then is Akurum.
Not all older Ikea kitchens are clearly marked, and some people moving into a new place have never had an Ikea kitchen before, so how do you know if you have an Akurum kitchen?
Here are a few tips to easily identify which Ikea system you have.
Sektion: All white drawers.
(side back, and center bottom panel are all white)
Akurum: Grey/white drawers.
(side and back are silver grey color, bottom panel is white)
Sektion: Has two sets of holes that run vertically down the sides of the walls. The hinges come as a 2-piece set with a base plate that connects to the cabinet wall and a hinge that attaches to the door front, allowing you to easily snap the door on and off.
Akurum: Have a single line of holes that run vertically down the sides of the walls and a butterfly shaped hinge.
How to translate your Ikea kitchen plan?
Look for the size of the door on your Ikea shopping list and take note of the quantity you need. Find the matching width and height (e.g. 18”x20”) in the dropdowns and enter the quantity.
Find the matching width and height of your drawers (e.g. 36”x5”)
and enter the quantity.
Please note that 5” Shaker drawers only come in slab options.
Panels / Trim / Toe-kick
Keep in mind that Semihandmade panels, trim, and toe-kick/plinth come oversized and are meant to be trimmed on site, therefore our measurements will be slightly larger than what you may see on your Ikea plans.
All panels, trim, and toe-kick come in slab/flat style only.
